Waste Management Technician

Job Description

Our client is seeking a waste management technician to join them on a temporary basis.

Full-time role: 08.00 – 16.30

Potential tasks for the successful candidate include: – This is not exhaustive, and things happen quickly and may change

* Familiarise with sites and staff

* Create and monitor a spreadsheet that looks at the hours worked and monitors overtime/shift patterns

* Look at the various inspections operational staff are required to undertake and references in Actions plans and ensure that the information captured in the action plan is reflected in the inspection documents

* Work with colleagues in the Quality Management team to process map operational and administrational functions of the service including requirements for transport and haulage, hr processes

* Look at existing spreadsheets utilised for communicating data about site operations and how they can be improved, ensure they are clear and capturing accurate information

* Assist in waste operations implementing and Health and Safety Management system in line with OSHAS / ISO and supporting with internal audits

* Deal with complaints and queries from members of the public regarding the recycling and household waste sites.

* Support with the implementation of a new HR payroll system which may need initial additional resources to provide information in different formats to be utilised in the system such as recording overtime monitoring shift patterns

* Support on any changes that are required to the operation of the recycling household waste sites such as the reintroduction of the permit system, changes in how residents can access the sites, implementation of changing working practices in a post COVID / social distancing

* Assist in creating training packages (Toolbox tools, memo, information sources on health and safety, service changes etc) and supporting operational supervisors/managers

* Delivering training to front line staff in small groups or 1:1

* Support front line staff in accessing online learning packages to complete mandatory training e training

Working location: Potential home working or across the county, valid driving license is essential for this role.

Travel to Recycling and Household Waste Sites is a likely requirement, so need the successful candidate must have a valid UK driver’s licence and access to own vehicle, business use car insurance etc. and mileage claims can be submitted
